In Tibetan religious literature, Jamgon Kongtrul's Treasury of Knowledge in ten books stands out as a unique encyclopedic masterpiece embodying the entire range of Buddhist teachings as it was preserved in Tibet.

Kongtrul is perhaps best known for his writings: he composed more than ninety volumes on theory and practice according to the Nyingma, Kadam, Sakya, Kagyu, and Bon traditions. His major works are re- ferred to as the Five Great Treasuries (mDzod chen lnga); the first to be written was The Encompassment of All Knowledge, which was followed by The Kagyu Treasury of Mantra, The Treasury of Key Instructions, The Treasury of Precious Treasure Teachings, and The Special Secret Treasury of Advice.

This book 5 is entirely devoted to Buddhist Ethics in 500 pages.
