Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche was one of the major founders of Buddhism in Tibet. He introduced the Vajrayana to Tibet and is known by the Tibetans as being the “second Buddha.” There are many practices of Guru Rinpoche and he is often depicted as dispelling negative forces with his right hand outstretched and as a meditation with his right hand at his heart holding a dorje.
The Konchog Chidu means “embodiment of all jewels” meaning the three jewels of Buddha, Dharma and sangha. There is a long Konchog Chidu practice which is very detailed and requires an empowerment to do the practice. Thrangu Rinpoche has his students do a much shorter practice which is based on a terma found by Jatson Nyingpo. This practice also has an empowerment but Rinpoche has said that one can do this practice before one gets the empowerment.
This Konchog Chidu with Guidance has on the left the practice in Tibetan Script, the transliteration and the English. On the right side of the page in a box it gives the visualization, the mudras and the music to be done as well as an explanation of technical terms used, an explanation of the inner and outer meaning of the Seven-line prayer, pictures of the vajra fence and palace supplied by Thrangu Rinpoche, the eight emanations of Guru Rinpoche and the eight offering goddesses, a diagram drawn by Rinpoche of spacing of the mantra, and an 11 page study guide by Thrangu Rinpoche.
To get the full benefit of this practice, you should get the empowerment that goes with this practice. If that's not possible, you should talk to your teacher about it.
We also have several pictures of Guru Rinpoche in the photo section of this website and in this section we have Lama Kathy singing the Chenrezig practice so you can get the tune down.
