We are forunate to have a translation of the Amitabha Sutra. This sutra is extremely well known in China. The Chinese brought this sutra back from India over 1,000 years ago and translated it into Chinese. Since then this sutra is the background to all Amitabha practices.

Amitabha is also one of the five Wisdom Buddhas and is usually depicted as red and is known particularly for overcoming the klesha of desire or attachment with disciminating awareness wisdom.

More recently Cleary translated this short sutra from the Chinese into English and it is only four pages long.
