Tilopa founded the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism had one primary pupil who was Naropa. Naropa was a great scholar at Nalanda University about a 1,000 years ago and he left his prestigious post to wander in the forests of India looking for Tilopa. He went through great hardships and finally was able to meet Tilopa and receive extradentary spiritual practices from him. Particularly important of these teachings were the teachings on Mahamudra meditation and on the Six Dharmas of Naropa.
