When Padmasambhava (Tib. Guru Rinpoche) was invited by the King of Tibet to help build a Buddhist country, he set up what is now the Nyingma lineage and was involved in bringing many, many Vajrayana texts and practices to Tibet. He could not do this without having 25 close deciples and an extraordinary Tibetan woman, Yeshe Tsogyal, working side-by-side with him and helping him immensely. Not only that but she also practiced these practices to their full extent and became enlightened making here probably the first Tibetan to reach enlightenment.

Lady of the Lotus Born (Padmasambhava means lotus born) is an excellent translation of her own autobiography and is also a lively narrative and  inspiring book of her life.

"The story of the life of Yeshe Tsogyal is not merely an absorbing historical document. It is, above all, one of the most inspiring examples of how the Buddha's teachings may be put into practice." --Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche.
