Naropa's Wisdom (Book)


Tilopa founded the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism had one primary pupil who was Naropa. Naropa was a great scholar at Nalanda University about a 1,000 years ago and he left his prestigious post to wander in the forests of India looking for Tilopa. He went through great hardships and finally was able to meet Tilopa and receive extradentary spiritual practices from him. Particularly important of these teachings were the teachings on Mahamudra meditation and on the Six Dharmas of Naropa.

In this book which is a second in a trilogy (the first being Tilopa’s Wisdom) in which Thrangu Rinpoche first tells the life of Naropa and his trials and explains the lessons Naropa learned. Then rinpoche follows with lucid and practical commentaries on two of Naropa’s songs of realization, explaining their precious instructions for realizing Mahamudra and the nature of one’s mind. These two dohas are The View, Concisely Put and The Summary of Mahamudra. Naropa's Wisdom is 211 pages long with complete notes, glossary, glossary of Tibetan terms, appendices, and index.
