We apologize because this summary of the Chinese book is in English. Soon we have this fixed but the book can be downloaded and it is all in Mandarin. Thrangu Rinpoche has spent the last 40 years teaching meditation and other Buddhist topics to both Western and Asian students. The process of developing good meditation begins with Shamatha meditation which is to settle the mind and to gradually train it it so that we can rest without becoming overly distracted by thoughts and emotions. The second step to developing good meditation is Vipashyana which is to learn how to look directly at the mind and see its true nature. When we are able to do this, we can begin to reduce our disturbing emotions and thoughts and anxieties. Both of these meditations can be done anywhere  without any special settings, implements, or empowerments. Shamatha and Vipasyana can be practiced in sitting meditation and also in the daily activities such as working, commuting, eating, explaining things. In other words, the meditation explained by Rinpoche is very useful to the modern practitioner who is very busy with family and work.  In this book Rinpoche explains meditation in a simple, non-technical language based on a tradition that is over 1,000-year-old and has produced many enlightened individuals. Another book on this topic is Tranquility and Insight, a 170 page book by Thrangu Rinpoche available on this website that gives extensive descriptions of Shamatha and Vipashyana. Thrangu Rinpoche, an eminent Buddhist teacher, has written over 40 books on Buddhism and is known for taking complex subjects and making them easily understandable to his students. In this book we have collected four complete teachings by Rinpoche to help his students completely understand some important Buddhist concepts.       The Twelve Links help us understand how each outside perception and each internal thought and feeling leads us to either a positive or a negative outcome.       The Eight Consciousnesses are basically a description of Buddhist. psychology showing exactly how outside perceptions and internal thoughts are processed by the mind. This is not only valuable for dealing with our disturbing emotions (kleshas), but also for dealing with our discursive thoughts in meditation.       The Five Buddha Families is an explanation of the basic energies in Buddhism, often called deities. The Amitabha buddha family, for example, is the best known for its involvement in the process of gaining a positive rebirth. Our daily conduct is as important as meditation and prayers. In       The Ten Virtuous Actions Rinpoche explains in detail the four conditions which lead us towards negative or positive karma. This book of 117 pages includes pictures, charts, appendices, glossary, bibliography, and index. This Book is now ON SALE for only $ 6.50 and the PDF being a Free Download for the next 2 months.

The Bon tradition of  Buddhism was then national religion of Tibet before the 700s when Buddhism was introduced by King Tesong Detsun. When Buddhism was established in Tibet it took many different aspects of the Bon religion and often attributed these teachings and practices to India when they were native to Tibet. The Chod Practice is a powereful method for cutting one's attachment to outer phenomena, espicailly the obsession with being a separate and  important self that we almost all cherish. This book describes the  Chod practice from the Bon tradition, "Laughter of the Skygoers", composed by the great Bonpo master Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen, who took the body of light in 1934.

“Elizabeth English study of Vajryogini, a key female Deity within Indian and Tibetan Buddhism is a remarkable window into the complex and fascinating world of tantra. English’s thorough analysis is notable for the way in which it combines precise textual scholarship with full awareness of the wider spiritual context of the Varayogini practices..”  Geoffrey Samuel

The Heart Sutra is a condensation of the vast Pajnaparamita sutras on emptiness. This 5 minute sutra is recited in many Buddhist centers across the world. While being short, it is extremely profound and here Bokar Rinpoche explains its meaning and how it relates to understanding emptiness. In the Mahayana it is said that if one does not understand that a person and of outer phenomena are insubstantial (that is "empty") one can not completely grasp and reach enlightenment. This book is about 100 pages which covers not only the sutra, but what is behind it and is easy reading.

"For several decades, masters from all four lineages of Tibetan Buddhism have been conferring the Kalachakra initiation in India, Mongolia, Southeast Asia and the West. Thousands of people from Buddhist and non-Buddhist cultures alike have either received the empowerment as active participants or attended as interested observers. Requests for future Kalachakra initiations from around the world are ever-increasing. The interest is great." The Kalachakra tantra is said to be the most advanced practices in Tibetan Buddhism. This text which is said to have come from the Kingdom of Shambhala in about 1000 AD is vast and covers not only an elaborate Buddhist practice, but also contains the making of a calendar, an elaborate astrological system, and a mandala of 720 deities. This introduction gives a summary of the Kalachakra for ordinary practitioners to understand.
