Four Dharmas of Gampopa (Book)


Gampopa was one of the most important Kagyu lineage holders. He was a student of Milarepa and set up the first Kagyu monastery in Tibet. Gampopa is known for combining the Kadampa tradition of Atisha with the Mahamudra teachings of Milarepa, and thus establishing the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Gampopa’s Four Dharmas is a distillation of the essence of the Buddhist path into four profound lines that can be easily remembered.

In this commentary by Thrangu Rinpoche provides the essential oral instructions that elucidate the meaning and relevance of Gampopa’s four-line prayer: (1) Grant your blessings so that my mind may become one with the Dharma. (2) Grant your blessings so that the Dharma may go along the path. (3) Grant you blessings so that the path may clarify confusion. (4) Grant your blessings so that confusion may dawn as wisdom.
