Tilopa who founded the Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism had one primary pupil who was Naropa. Naropa was a great scholar at Nalanda University a 1,000 years ago and he left his prestigious post to wander in the forests of India looking for Tilopa. He went through great hardship and finally was able to meet Tilopa and receive extradentary spiritual practices from him. Particularly important of these were the teachings on Mahamudra meditation and on the Six Dharmas of Naropa.

“The Indian Mahasiddha Naropa is one of the most influential figures in the history of Vajrayana Buddhism...The Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, our great treasure of wisdom and compassion, hold Naropa’s unbroken lineage...Those who haven’t met Naropa can meet the heart essence of his insights and deeds through this book.”                  --Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche

In this book which is a second in a series (the first being Tilopa’s Wisdom) Thrangu Rinpoche first tells the life of Naropa and his trials and explains its profound lessons. Then he follows this with lucid and practical commentaries on two of Naropa’s songs of realization, explaining their precious instructions for realizing Mahamudra and the nature of one’s mind. These two dohas are The View, Concisely Put and The Summary of Mahamudra. The book is 211 pages long with complete notes, glossary, glossary of Tibetan terms, appendices, and index.
