The Tashi Prayer or The Verses of the Eight Auspicious Noble Ones is a prayer composed by Jamgon Kongtrul to build up auspicious or good fortune. Khenpo Karthar used to recite this prayer when students came to him with problems that he could not solve right there to help them. the prayer is based on a sutra of the Buddha in which the Buddha said if one recited the names of various auspicous bodhisattvas and and their consorts and various auspicious symbols it would help the practitioner in thier life and practice.
We have the prayer with an extensive explanation of the meaning of reciting these auspicious names. There is some positive karma in just reciting the words, but much more karma can occur if one knows what one is reciting and what the words mean.
